Hi,

As i understand you only have 1 nagios box and you want that to be both noc and poller?

then you don't have to define any of those, it will just poll everything in the config.

I don't think it's a valid configuration to have both noc and poller pointing to same maching ( without setting up more nagios instances and use merlin on different ports)

Guess Andreas can tell us more about this.

On Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 2:53 AM, Frost, Mark {PBG} <mark.frost1@pepsi.com> wrote:

I'm trying to play with Merlin 0.6.3beta (latest git I saw on the
website) and Ninja. I had trouble when I started with a mult-host
configuration so I'm scaling back to the NOC+poller on a single host
configuration. I've also scaled back a chunk of our real Nagios
configuration to run on this test box and put every host into a
hostgroup "merlin_a".

I have the following at the top of my merlin.conf:

noc wonka {
address = x.x.x.x
port = 15551
}

poller wonka {
address = x.x.x.x
port = 15551
hostgroup = merlin_a
}

When I start Nagios, I see the following in the neb.log:

[1253148250] 6: Merlin Module Loaded
[1253148251] 6: setting connect and disconnect handlers
[1253148251] 6: Coredumps in /tmp
[1253148251] 6: Merlin module v0.6.2 initialized
successfully
[1253148251] 6: Object configuration parsed.
[1253148251] 6: Creating hash tables
[1253148251] 4: 'host1' is a member of 'merlin_a', so
can't add to poller for 'merlin_a'
[1253148251] 4: 'host2' is a member of 'merlin_a', so
can't add to poller for 'merlin_a'
... one of those for each host I have ...

What am I missing? My service table in Nagios is empty. When I run
Ninja, it tells me there are no services and while it shows the hosts,
it tells me that no services are scheduled to be checked. If I look in
the CGI, it's running checks normally as I'd expect it to.

Thanks very much.

Mark
