The start order i us is start Merlin and then start nagios.
Stop nagios then stop Merlin.
I don't have a 5 second start between the services either and everything
is writing to the database OK
Have you upgraded your Merlin to 0.6.6? the old one we used to use is
buggy and spams the logs.
