Hi all
I haven't used merlin for a while as I was getting issues with the database
not picking up when new hosts were added or removed in nagios, anyway I was
hoping to get some time to look at merlin once again and I wanted to ask a
quick question on the restart order for nagios + merlin
>From what I remember if I start nagios and merlin from a stopped status (
i.e. both nagios and merlin are stopped) the order is:-
Start nagios
Start merlind
If they are both running and I want to restart nagios to pick up a change to
the configs, the order is
Stop nagios
Stop merlind
Start nagios
Start merlind
Also to try and overcome the issues with merlin not picking up changes to
the monitored hosts I was advised to pick a 5 second wait between the
starting of nagios and the starting of merlin, is this still advisable?
If this is correct I'll write a quick restart script to handle the stop,
start, restarts in the correct order
Cheers
Mike
