First you'll need to generate the google API key. there's a link in the 
settings-tab. Then paste the key in the box in the settings-tab. As of 
adding objects to the map do a search in the map, the location will be 
marked with a balloon, click on it to edit the properties. Once added 
you can link objects together with a line that are associated with a 
host,service etc. It's quite easy actually :-)
