Yes. Merlin utilizes the host-/service status update events, which are
created on passive checkresult submission too. Note that there are
some few issues that remain to be ironed out wrt the transportation of
those events and the accepting of them into the nagios core on the
other end of the chain.

Any of the above, although it would "feel" most appropriate to send

Merlin is after all still a fairly young project.
