Database inserts. Clustering. Tiered network monitoring.
If you check my presentation from NMN2008 you'll see some of the
possible layouts its intended to offer. In march 2009 we added
database support to it to make it the default backend for the new
GUI for Nagios; Ninja. It's impossible to achieve linear scaling
with NDOUtils' database schema, so we had to redesign it. Since
95% of the code in NDOUtils is only SQL-queries, we felt it was
better to re-design it entirely around a new event transport layer.
Since we already had a working event-transport layer in Merlin, we
decided quite quickly to reuse that engine. This also saved us from
having to think up another name for it, which was a huge relief for
all of us at the op5 development department :-p

Considering the successes of the wars on alcohol, poverty, drugs and
terror, I think we should give some serious thought to declaring war
on peace.
