This sounds like something that has happened to me when not using Firefox.
In those cases it was the server clock that needed to be updated. I believe
that the reason is that the session is regarded as already expired by the
browser. (Session lifetime is, by the way, modified in config/session.php in
case you would like to fiddle with it.)
My suggestion is that you sync your server clock against some ntp server (or
set it manually) and try logging in again.

You shouldn't have to run the script separately (assuming you are referring
to auth_import.php).
If you run the ninja_db_init.sh script, it should execute auth_import as
well. Not that it does any harm but it isn't necessary.
