Ah thats how its done
I have a small script that reloads nagios on config changes so I added the
call to the import.php in there and it all works fine
Thanks
Mike

Rewrite the init script and add a reload, where you have a php
/path/to/merlin/import.php cache objects.cache status status.bla
You get the idea, look in the import.php

Subject: [op5-users] Merlin init.d not closing
Hi all
Just noticed this problem when I use the merlind init script, everything
starts ok but the script just sits there until I ^C it
The output of the restart looks like this:-
<snip>
service merlind restart
Logging to '/usr/local/nagios/etc/addons/merlin/logs/daemon.log'
Signalling process with pid 32438
Logging to '/usr/local/nagios/etc/addons/merlin/logs/daemon.log'
[nagios at nagios:/usr/local/nagios/etc/objects ] # Importing objects to
database merlin
importing objects from /usr/local/nagios/var/objects.cache
importing status from /usr/local/nagios/var/status.dat
</snip>
I wanted to wrap the merlin restart into a script I use to reload nagios
after a config change but until I get the init.d to start cleanly I cant do
this
Also is there any way to refresh merlin without doing a restart? i.e. I
would prefer to just get it to re import the objects in a similar way that
/etc/rc.d/init.d/nagios reload works
Cheers
Mike
